What we do

The whole container depot, gate to bill.

Modity takes a depot from the gate to the monthly bill: gate-in and gate-out, repairs and estimates, spares and purchasing, billing, and a portal where each shipping line sees only its own boxes. AI helps where it saves time; a person always confirms.

Gate in and gate out

ISO 6346 check-digit validation, condition, seal, driver and truck. A signed receipt (EIR) as PDF with photos.

Pre-advice and releases

The gate shows whether a box is expected or released; this can be made mandatory.

Truck appointments and QR pass

The driver or the line books a slot and gets a QR pass; the gate scans it and the form fills itself.

Repairs and estimates

Parts and labour lines, approval by the line, spares issued to the repair, coded damage lines (CEDEX-style, editable code lists).

Stores and purchasing

Requisition, vendor quotes by link, purchase order, goods receipt, issue and transfer, minimum-stock warnings.

Billing

Tariffs per line or customer, handling, storage after free days, repairs, chargeable services (wash, PTI, lifting, cleaning), credit notes, PDF bills.

Shipping-line portal

Each line sees its own boxes, history, estimates (approve or reject), bills, truck appointments and CODECO gate messages.

Email alerts

Estimate waiting for approval, free days ending, daily stock report.

Key figures

Dwell time, repair turnaround, depot utilisation against capacity, revenue per TEU; plus gate, inventory, sales and stock reports.

Optional AI: read the box from a photo

Suggests container number, size and seal at gate-in. The number is checked with the ISO 6346 check digit before the clerk confirms.

What does a container depot management system do?

It records gate-in and gate-out movements, container condition, repair estimates and repairs, stock transfers and yard inventory, and produces the reports depots and their customers need.

Can we import our current container inventory into Modity?

Yes. During implementation we import your current inventory so the system matches what is physically in your yard on day one.

Can Modity work with other shipping software?

Yes. Modity can be connected to Yaguar and TRAIL, and integrated with other systems you use, as part of customisation.

What can a shipping line see in the Modity portal?

Each line sees only its own boxes, history, estimates (approve or reject), bills, truck appointments and CODECO gate messages.

Does Modity send CODECO messages?

Modity produces a baseline UN/EDIFACT D.95B CODECO file. Each shipping line’s guide must be checked before a live feed is set up.

Can we change the damage codes?

Yes. The starter code lists are the depot’s own and editable, and repair lines are coded in a CEDEX-style layout.

Does Modity use AI?

Optionally. AI can read a container number, size and seal from a photo, propose repair estimate lines from the depot’s own past repairs, and write a short daily summary. It is off until an administrator switches it on and stores a Gemini key, and a person confirms every result. Photos and counts sent for a suggestion go to Google’s Gemini service.
