Project summary: This is an AI-powered memoir platform. An AI biographer interviews people by voice in real time, remembers the people and places they mention, and turns their memories into book-ready chapters in the style they choose, ready to download as a printable PDF. Mahadhi Technologies built the platform for an AI memoir startup.
The challenge
Most people never write down their life stories: writing is hard, and a human biographer is expensive. The challenge was to make a spoken conversation with an AI feel natural, patient and emotionally aware, especially when memories are painful, and then turn that conversation into writing a family would want to keep.
What we built
- Easy start: simple onboarding, an option to buy a memoir as a gift, a free trial session and magic-link sign-in for returning users.
- Personal setup: a five-step wizard to choose the biographer’s voice, accent and tone, a visual theme, how much on-screen text to show, and conversation pace.
- Real-time voice conversation with voice activity detection, echo cancellation and noise suppression, clear listening, thinking and speaking indicators, and pause and end controls.
- Interviewer-like conversation flow that moves from a warm-up to deeper questions and a natural close, slows down respectfully after emotional memories, and offers new chapters when a topic comes up.
- Memory across sessions: the people, places and relationships a user mentions are remembered, so they never have to re-explain who someone is.
- Time budgets: trial and paid sessions wind down naturally instead of cutting the user off.
- Review and privacy: users edit their transcribed answers and can mark any chapter private to keep it out of the book.
- Book-quality writing: chapters generated as a first-person memoir, third-person biography, letters to the family or a story collection, at three levels of detail, then exported as a styled PDF with a cover, chapter dividers and a table of contents.
